Asimov's Robot series is a must-read. I suggest you read I Robot before starting on the series (The Caves of Steel, The Naked Sun, The Robots of Dawn, and Robots and Empire). My other fave is Giskard, also from same books: he's clearly been made in the image of a real looker too! Both are kind gentle and total victims of humanity which is why I love them even more and long to rescue them and set them free!
